Kexby House, Kexby, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire DN21 5NE Telephone: 01427 788759

Kexby House was built in 1881 and is typical of the late Victorian period. In the garden we have tried to keep the period of the house in mind, but also the planting reflects that this a country house and country style planting predominates. Tulips and Dahlias are the main species used for formal bedding. The soil type is heavy clay and wonderful for roses of which there are hundreds of varieties, on walls, shrubs and in trees used for ground cover.

There are five acres of gardens which have evolved over the last one hundred years. There are long herbaceous borders, unusual plants, wildlife pond, bog garden, scree gardens, wild flower area and a new perennial prairie style meadow. We were featured in 'The Independent' Ten best gardens to visit in Summer 2006. The Gardens are also open by appointment for small parties.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments can be organized.

Following on from a very successful year of visitors to the gardens, Kexby House Gardens will be open to the public again in 2009 on the following dates. Please call us if you require any further information about the garden open days or to book a private visit around the garden. On open days home made teas are served and there are plants for sale.
